In a perfect closing ceremony to the celebration of its 15 year journey, Anamika Khanna brought the curtain down on the Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 15 yesterday, with an exquisite grand finale show. Inspired by the main sponsor Lakme’s range of beauty products named Sculpt, the designer merged the aesthetics of ‘sculpting’ and ‘de-sculpting’ with structured drapes in her latest offering.
The collection was a varied mix of construction and deconstruction, where drapes, Indian dhotis, saris, capes, high neck blouse and long flowy jackets, combined with traditional zardosi, intricate thread and metallic work captured the designer’s unique vision of sculpt. The craftsmanship of the collection was beautifully accentuated by using a blend of contemporary and traditional colours like soft pink, silver, gold, nude, ivory, gunmetal, black and a strong blue. Kareena Kapoor, the face of Lakme’s sculpt range, was the show-stopper for the grand finale collection. |
